‘Dans la forêt’ competing for the Méliès d’Argent in Lund

French-Swedish co-production ‘Dans la forêt’ (Into the Forest) by Gilles Marchand will screen this week at the Fantastisk Filmfestival in Lund, one of Europe’s leading fantastic film fests. The film is competing for a Méliès d’Argent, the festival’s most prestigious section in which the winning film will be nominated for the European fantastic film prize “Méliès d’Or”. The film was co-produced in 2016 by Silver Films’ producers Olivier Guerpillon and Frida Hallberg, on behalf of GötaFilm.

Silver films is co-producing feature documentary Jihad Jane by Ciaran Cassidy

Producer Anna Byvald at Silver films is co-producing the film Jihad Jane,” by promising Irish director Ciaran Cassidy, produced by Ireland’s Fastnet Films. Ciaran Cassidy made the acclaimed radio documentary The Echo chamber, The story of Jihad Jane. Link below. Ciaran Cassidy’s most recent short film ‘The Last Days of Peter Bergmann’ premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It is the winner of Stranger than Fiction audience award, IFTA for Best Irish Short Film and Jury award at Nashville Film . He was named by the UK newspaper the Observer as ‘one to watch’ in film for 2014. His previous short documentary ‘Collaboration Horizontale’ premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and received a silver medal at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. He has worked extensively as a radio documentary maker. Previous work includes, ‘The Runners,’ which was the winner of 2010 Prix Europa in Berlin. Earlier documentaries include ‘The Diary of Leanne Wolfe’ and ‘The Ballad of Patrick Folan’ won Documentary of the Year Award at the PPI Radio Awards, the Radio Impact Award at the Third Coast International Audio Festival in Chicago and the 2008 Premios …

The programme enhances professionals’ skills in transferring knowledge, developing human resources, mentoring and encouraging creative processes – which finally lead to efficient and productive collaboration. In addition, the workshop offers a forum for exchange of experience and networking with international colleagues.

Silver Films’ feature project CAR:Y selected in the NFTF’s Nordic Genre Boost

Psychological horror-thriller “CAR:Y”, the debut feature project from Silver Films’ Olivier Guerpillon, has been selected with six other Nordic genre projects to be part of the Nordic Genre Boost, an initiative of the Nordisk Film & TV Fond to boost the development of Nordic genre films. CAR:Y is the only Swedish project selected, in a selection that includes acclaimed directors like Danish Jonas Arnby (whose first feature When Animals Dream was in Cannes) and Finnish director Ulrika Bengts (Finland’s Oscar entry for her previous feature The Disciple). Each project receives a $24,000 (NOK200,00) development grant, and access to two residential workshops: one held in collaboration with Night Visions International Festival in Helsinki (April 5-9), and a second during New Nordic Films’ Co-Production and Finance Market in Haugesund (Aug 22-25). Gilles Marchand to Stockholm for first Swedish screening of “Dans la forêt” on Feb 18

Gilles Marchand, writer-director of French-Swedish co-production DANS LA FORET (Into the Forest) guests Stockholm this week-end for the first Swedish screening of the film, within the 18th French Film Festival “Franska Filmfestivalen”. Marchand has previously directed two feature films, selected in Cannes, “Who killed Bambi?” and “Black Heaven” and is also an acclaimed scriptwriter, collaborating with directors like Laurent Cantet (“Human Resources”) and Dominik Moll, with whom he co-wrote “Lemming,  “Harry, he’s here to help” as well as “Dans la forêt”. The whole film was shot in Sweden, where the action takes place, mainly in the woods of Dalsland. The film stars Jérémie Elkaïm (“Declaration of War”) and two amazing child-actors, Timothé Vom Dorp and Théo Van De Voorde. Silver Films’ co-founder Olivier Guerpillon is the Swedish co-producer, together with Frida Hallberg for GötaFilm, and the film is distributed in Sweden by Silver Films.
